Introduction

I’m a husband, father (three adult children) grandfather and great grandfather. Our family is diverse in all possible ways. We are multi-ethnic (African American, European American,, Native American, Filipino American, and Maori), and our family values are inclusivity, respect and social justice. I’ve worked in the mental health field since 1985, initially in community mental health, then with Park Nicollet Clinics, and with the Alexander Center for Developmental Pediatrics before opening my own practice in 2009. I provide services to school age children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family and group therapy modalities specializing in assessment and treatment related to anxiety disorders, pervasive developmental disorders, mood, learning, ADHD, Tourette Syndrome, habit disorders, behavior and relationship problems. In addition, I provide supervision and consultation to pre and postdoctoral psychology students and marriage and family therapists. I enjoy helping children, teens and adults change patterns of thinking, feeling and acting that limit their ability to live fully and effectively. To me, therapy is a collaborative process that begins with a comprehensive evaluation and then addresses mutually agreed-upon goals using evidence-based treatment approaches. I value an approach to therapy that is non-judgemental, evidence-based, trauma informed and intersectional in perspective. Often, individuals working with me choose to invite their partners, parents, children, siblings or other family members to appointments. It has been my experience that mobilizing a family's resources can contribute significantly to the change process and a more fulfilling life. When I'm not working I enjoy backpacking, canoeing, gardening, polychordal yodeling, brewing beer, cooking, baking, making music, and embarrassing the young ones in our family whenever possible.
