Dr. Truman is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with expertise in psychopharmacology, psychiatric diagnosis, and disease management, focusing her clinical experience and research in treating mood and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Along with Dr. Patricia Fuss, PsyD, she founded Partners in Women’s Mental Health in 2019 to meet the needs of pregnant and postpartum persons in Norfolk and in the surrounding Hampton Roads Area of Virginia. Dr. Truman graduated from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons; interned at Yale University and Yale-New Haven Hospital; and did her psychiatric residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where she gained clinical experience at the Payne Whitney Women’s Program. Her teaching experience includes conferences, peer support and professional trainings for Postpartum Support Virginia and Postpartum Support International, grand rounds and medical resident teaching. She is an Assistant Professor in the community faculty track of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Eastern Virginia Medical School
