Introduction

Published book - Search for: "Desire as Symptom of Spiritual Yearning" on: https://smile.amazon.com Please note that Dr. Alvarez is semi-retired now, but is still taking clients part-time whom she really connects with. ~~~~~~~~~~ My main specialty area is Jungian therapy, as it intersects with spirituality and myth. Before conducting therapy, my first profession was teaching. I taught at the University of South Florida, and Jungian psychology was integrated in with my teaching of Comparative Religion. This was also a focal point for me in grad school. I have studied and researched it on a personal level since the 90's, so for 25-30 yrs. In life, we follow certain rituals and/or myths. Sometimes those prescriptions need to be revised to find wholeness; other times, we need to rewrite the script & create new ones. I'd be honored to support you on your journey. Also, I have gone through a lot in my life. There are times when I didn’t know if I’d ever be ok, or even survive, but eventually, taking it day-by-day, step-by-step, I did. I fought through having a broken heart (many times actually), being a single mom, getting through school & arriving at the point I’m at today, speaking to you right now. I've lived life. And I’m doing this, because if I could do it, with all the obstacles against me, so can you. There is always Hope; as long as we’re here, living, breathing, and seeking. If what I am saying resonates with you, please feel free to contact me any way that you choose. It would be an honor to help you in anyway that I can, and I look forward to connecting. Dr A Alvarian Therapy Model (ATM) Everything I have learned in my life; everything that has proven to be true, as tested by real-life experience, goes into my therapeutic model-based on my own experience. The Alvarian Therapy Model utilizes inspiration, and motivation, to awaken the human spirit; it helps us get back in sync, or in touch with, our fiery survival instinct, or intuition. ATM always follows the best interests of the client. It is person-focused, but goes deeper, as it is guided by where the fire is; by the individual's drive in the present moment. The therapeutic relationship is paramount; the therapist following the client's lead in the discovery process; it is based on experience, but spontaneous simultaneously. Copyright: Dr. C. Alvarez-2021 Analytical Psychology Analytical psychology (German: Analytische Psychologie, sometimes translated as analytic psychology and referred to as Jungian analysis) is a term coined by Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist, to describe research into his new "empirical science" of the psyche. It was designed to distinguish it from Freud's psychoanalytic theories as their seven-year collaboration on psychoanalysis was drawing to an end between 1912 and 1913.[1][2][3] The evolution of his science is contained in his monumental opus, the Collected Works, written over sixty years of his lifetime.[4] 1. All five disciplines of the arts: visual, dance/movement, music, drama/theater, and writing/poetry can give you a richer vocabulary to work, play and grow a life you love living. Expressive Arts @ 32nd & Thorn - 3201 Thorn Street, San Diego, CA 92104 Expressive therapies The expressive therapies are the use of the creative arts as a form of therapy, including the distinct disciplines expressive arts therapy and the creative arts therapies (art therapy, dance/movement therapy, drama therapy, music therapy, poetry therapy, and psychodrama). Unlike traditional arts expression, the process of creation is emphasized rather than the final product. The expressive therapies are based on the assumption that people can heal through the various forms of creative expression. Expressive therapists share the belief that through creative expression and the tapping of the imagination, people can examine their body, feelings, emotions, and thought process. Therapeutic Dance This can be used as an outlet to express feelings, emotions, energies, as well as to release stress. My method is based on the Luigi style, which involves "feeling from the inside." I've had 14 yrs of formal professional dance training, having performed at many Tampa venues and Walt Disney. I have several years of experience as a choreographer & teacher. ~~~~~~~~~~ Holistic Psychotherapy Holistic psychotherapy, an integrative approach grounded in psychosynthesis, focuses on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit, attempting to understand and address the ways issues in one aspect of a person can lead to concerns in other areas. Those pursuing holistic therapy may, with the support of a qualified mental health professional, become better attuned to their entire awareness, which can often promote greater acceptance of the self. It is a style of therapy generally considered helpful for anyone wishing to develop a deeper understanding of themselves. Sources: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4217606 Jungian therapy is an in-depth, analytical form of talk therapy designed to bring together the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind to help a person feel balanced and whole. Jungian therapy calls for clients to delve into the deeper and often darker elements of their mind and look at the “real” self rather than the self they present to the outside world. When It's Used Jungian therapy can help improve the lives of those with depression, anxiety, grief, phobias, relationship or trauma issues, low self-esteem, or other emotional problems. It is also appropriate for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of themselves and is willing to make a commitment to the work involved in acquiring that knowledge. What to Expect In addition to talking, your therapist may use various techniques, such as dream journaling and interpretation, and creative experiences likes art, movement, or music, to encourage self-expression and release your imagination. Your therapist may also try word association tests, wherein the therapist says a specific word and records how long it takes you to respond with the first thing that comes to mind. Your response time can indicate emotions and issues you connect to certain words. Depending on your situation and the agreement you make with your therapist, you will meet for regularly scheduled sessions, one or more times a week. How It Works Originating in the work of Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung early in the 20th century, Jungian therapy focuses more on the source of a problem than on the manifestations or symptoms. Jung believed that an individual’s repressed experiences and memories, in combination with what he called the “collective unconscious,” or natural traits that affect everyone, result in an imbalance between conscious awareness and the unconscious mind that has a detrimental effect on one’s emotional life. In analysis, one must explore the deep-rooted causes of relationship problems and blocked emotions to achieve “individuation,” or wholeness. If one tries simply to relieve the symptoms, the issues will not be resolved and are bound to resurface. The success of Jungian analysis depends on the client’s commitment to regularly scheduled sessions and intense work. ~~~~~~~~~~ Sliding Scale Pricing Many therapists offer sliding scale pricing to assist clients of all incomes. It serves clients in financial need who are seeking affordable therapy. These clients cannot afford market rates for therapy, lack adequate mental health insurance coverage, and/or have an annual household income below $100,000. In this way, they may access their choice of affordable in-person or Telehealth care from a vetted mental health professional. Here is my sliding scale chart for individuals: $50,000 to $55,000 is $85 per session $40,000 to $49,999 is $80 per session $30,000 to $39,999 is $70 per session $20,000 to $29,999 is $60 per session $10,000 to 19,999 is $50 per session $9,999 or under is $40 per session Here is my sliding scale chart for couples: $40,000 to $49,999 is $90 per session $30,000 to $39,999 is $80 per session $20,000 to $29,999 is $70 per session $10,000 to 19,999 is $60 per session $9,999 or under is $50 per session ~~~~~~~~~~ Post Abortion Stress Syndrome (PASS) - Does It Exist? The PTSD of abortion is called PASS. No matter your philosophical, religious, or political views on abortion, the fact of the matter is, the actual experience can affect women not only on a personal level but can potentially have psychological repercussions. Women’s reasons for having an abortion are always highly personal, but it’s important to remember that some women might choose to have an abortion after experiencing rape at the hands of a stranger or someone they know. Conversely, at times women may feel compelled not to follow through with a pregnancy under pressure from a husband, boyfriend, or family member. In any case, it is usually thought of as a solution to stressful circumstances. Post Abortion Stress Syndrome (PASS) is the name that has been given to the psychological aftereffects of abortion, based on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). © Susanne Babbel Ph.D. MFT Psychology Today (10-25-10) Please visit my therapy support group at: meetup.com/passtherapysupportgroup ~~~~~~~~~~ Psychotherapy Psychotherapy is a general term for treating mental health problems by talking with a psychiatrist, psychologist, or other mental health provider.
