Dr. Stroud demonstrates compassionate curiosity as she helps her clients gain insight into their relationships and reconnect with what is important to them. She uses an integrative treatment approach to achieve lasting and meaningful change, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness for immediate relief, and a psychodynamic approach for long-lasting change. Dr. Stroud co-leads a women’s therapy group. Adult clients have sought support following major life stressors, including grief, divorce, job loss, and postnatal depression. With young clients. Dr. Stroud is an expert in Play Therapy which she uses to address grief and loss, externalizing behaviors and trauma. Dr. Stroud emphasizes caregiver participation in the treatment of their child or adolescent. Dr. Stroud received her Master's and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from George Washington University, an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program. She completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut, a community mental health clinic. Dr. Stroud received doctoral training in both the Child Development and Primary Care departments of Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. She completed her post-doctoral residency at the Center for Cognitive Therapy and Assessment. Dr. Stroud is an expert in group therapy and presented at the 2024 American Group Psychotherapy Association convention. Additionally, Dr. Stroud received a Master's in Social Psychology at the London School of Economics and a BA in Human Development at Boston College. Dr. Stroud serves on several non-profit boards, including the Franklin L. Stroud Foundation for Children with Learning Differences where she is currently the President and the Georgetown Heritage where she is Vice President. She serves on the Public Affairs committee of the Association of Group Psychotherapy Association. She also has served a total of 14 years on two school boards.
