Hello! I hold a Doctorate in Social Work and 20 years of experience as a community organizer, and trauma specializing clinician. My career began in direct action organizing, school-based mental health, and housing rights/ harm reduction case management. I opened Amanecer Counseling ten years ago to provide trauma-focused care to other providers, organizers and activists. I am an EMDRIA-certified therapist, who uses somatic psychotherapy ( a focus on healing through body knowledge) alongside Internal Family Systems and queer/feminist psychotherapy frameworks. While I work with individuals and couples impacted by PTSD, I also specialize in healing the impacts of racial trauma and identity-based healing for multiracial communities. If you are mixed/ multi-racial and looking for a therapeutic space to process family-based issues, identity development and relationships, Amanecer Counseling may be a good fit. I encourage you to reach out!
