Hello, My name is Derek and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who started his own practice called Dignity Life Counseling LLC in 2021. I am a local to the West Side of Phoenix where I graduated from Tolleson Union High School. I am a U.S. Navy veteran as I served 5 years as a Navy Corpsman (medic). I served with a Marine unit and was stationed in Southern California. After I left the service, I received my undergrad degree from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I then completed my Masters program at Grand Canyon University and receives a Master of Science in Professional Counseling. I have clinical experience working in the community mental health field working with adults and adolescents. I have coordinated Intensive outpatient therapy groups and family education groups. I have experience in trauma informed therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR trauma therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Choice theory, Logo Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Etc. I also have experience working with couples and pride myself with bringing a welcoming comfortable therapeutic environment.
