Psychiatrist and best-selling author Gabor Maté said that he does not believe trauma is simply what happens to us, but far more, "what happens inside of us in the absence of an empathetic witness." Trauma is when painful experiences go unnoticed and uncared for. There are things inside all of us that we struggle with. Things we want to forget. Avoid. Ignore. Wishing we could just close our eyes and never remember again. There is also a truth inside of you that needs to be awakened. The truth is that you are not alone. That you have an identity and purpose in this world. That there is hope. Regardless of the circumstances, trauma, or challenge you have faced or might be facing currently, Dennis utilizes proven psychological therapeutic approaches, as well as the training he has received, to help you understand your story better. Dennis has four "almost grown" children he adores and has been married to his wife for 26 years. He spent many years coaching soccer and running marathons and continues to love anything physical and outdoor, such as boating and water sports with his kids and hiking and traveling with his wife. He has played in Akron soccer leagues consistently for over 20 years. He has been involved with a local faith community for the past 22 years and is grateful for all God has done in his life.
