Hello, my name is Debra Baran and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. I have additional certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor and as a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional. I have been in practice for over 20 years and have a passion for helping others. I am compassionate and empathic and meet my clients where they are on their life journey. I am able to help my clients find balance in their lives through the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and taking an integrative approach to addressing mental health. This involves taking a deeper look into one's lifestyle, including one's diet, and its effect on emotional functioning while providing the tools to make changes. My clients would describe me as being a good listener and supportive. I also guide my clients in setting goals from session to session so that they are actively involved in practicing skills learned in their sessions. These skills can be related to cognitive restructuring exercises, stress management techniques, relaxation exercises, or learning how to incorporate nutrient-dense foods that will have a positive impact on one's mood. I have recently brought on a new member to my practice, my 3-year old golden retriever who is a Certified Therapy Dog. She is available to join me in my sessions for those interested in Animal Assisted Therapy.
