I believe that the success of therapy depends essentially on the deep connection between individuals involved in the process. I have training in a wide vanity of therapeutic techniques including CBT and DBT and mindfulness with a special interest in studies involving the Dalai Lama. My early studies in art history and literature inform my thinking and I enjoy work with the university community at all levels as well as with artists in a variety of media. I am an LCSW-R psychotherapist with over 30 years of experience. I have worked in small cities in the Finger Lakes region since 1992 providing children, family, and individual therapy. I graduated from the Smith School for Social Work where I focused on families and children. Although I work with a variety of diagnoses and life challenges, I specialize in areas of trauma, mood disorders, family conflict, and a wide range relationship issues (intimate relationships, parent/child issues, sexual orientation, and work related issues). I have enjoyed working extensively around these issues with families from diverse cultural backgrounds. I also have expertise in working with families with children who have different learning styles and educational needs. I am an avid gardener, I practice tai chi and I enjoy cooking. I have studied with Richard Davidson, one of the first psychologists to explore the meditation techniques of the Dalai Lama. These interests are integrated into my work with clients both directly and metaphorically.
