Hello. My name and Dawn and as a licensed professional counselor of over 20 years experience, I have mbraced the mantra, "It's okay to NOT be okay," I defy the conventional image of a counselor seen on TV, social media, and TikTok. Transparent, blunt, and authentically open, I don't shy away from getting straight to the point. While some might label my directness as a "weakness," I consider it my greatest strength, drawing from personal struggles to provide immediate assistance. Viewing therapy as a journey, I emphasize the crucial role of trust for success. Similar to any journey, therapy presents challenges, roadblocks, fears, anger, tears, vulnerability, guilt, grief, and defeat. Yet, it also offers opportunities for new beginnings, growth, success, safety, laughter, acceptance, happiness, excitement, and gratitude. To navigate this path successfully, vulnerability hinges on trusting that the right person supports you. If you find resonance in my approach, I extend an invitation to explore my bio, and if it feels like a good fit, I would be honored to accompany you on this transformative journey. In my extensive experience across profit and nonprofit sectors, I've consistently offered therapeutic support to community members. As a clinician, my expertise lies in marriage and family counseling, integrating approaches such as REBT, Minuchin, Bowen Family Systems, Gottman, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). While specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy, my involvement in The William Steeles Certified Trauma Practitioner program has allowed me to assist children, adolescents, teens, and their families grappling with complex trauma for over fourteen years. I find fulfillment in supporting individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorders, grief, behavioral issues, suicidal ideation, anger, low self-esteem, parenting challenges, stress, teen issues, adjustment, and more.
