Introduction

Dr. Matherly has worked in the mental health field for over 20 years. She obtained her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tulane University. A licensed professional counselor and board-approved supervisor in the state of Louisiana, Dr. Matherly is also licensed in New Hampshire and Oregon. She has an eclectic view on therapy, preferring to think of counseling as a collaborative effort to create the life you want for yourself rather than an expert vs. client relationship. Dr. Matherly received her training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing in 2019 and continues to use that frequently, offering these sessions as well as many others. She frequently works with attorneys’ offices and the courts to complete necessary classes and assessments while finding time to maintain clients with more individualized needs.
