I have worked as a child and adolescent psychologist for the past 25 years. My approach is strength based and I typically involve the parents when working with young children (ages 2-8). My areas of focus with children and adolescents include: ADHD, anxiety disorders, emotional disorders, parent teen relationships, depression, and early parenting therapy interventions (e.g. PCIT --Parent Child Interaction Therapy) through telehealth. I also conduct family therapy sessions to help support the entire family move through difficulties (e.g. improve intrafamily communication). I enjoy teaching about home and school strategies for children and teens with ADHD and other neurodiverse presentations (e.g. ASD). I work to support them in school by co-developing creative bypass strategies to use in an IEP or 504 plan. My goal is to empower children and teens and their families to better understand their mental health challenges and to help them begin to advocate for their specific mental health needs. My practice often employs both cognitive behavioral (CB) and dialectical behavioral skills (DBT such as validation, empathy, and mindfulness. I focus on specific coping strategies to help improve your child or teen's day to day functioning. I also offer a free consultation.
