You’re high-functioning. You go to work, you meet your friends for drinks, you fit in some exercise here and there, you manage your home, and you raise your kids. It’s all fine…until it’s not. Everyone has periods in life where things pile up and the hits just keep on coming. At some point, we have to adjust our “normal” in order to keep functioning. We do our best, skillfully navigating around intrusive thoughts and processing them in ways we’ve heard are helpful. We may even be very successful at avoiding thinking about the “what if’s.” We distract ourselves, we “push through” periods of stress, we over-extend ourselves, and we try to sleep. This may “work” for a while. Eventually, however, you may notice sleep isn’t as restful as you need it to be. Your coping mechanisms you developed? Perhaps they have become bad habits. Waves of panic and anxiety begin to disrupt your waking hours. It becomes harder and harder to get restorative sleep. You know you need help. Let’s break the “anxiety, disrupted sleep, bad habit” cycle together. Through education, habit reconstruction, and proven therapies, I can guide you to a healthier you.
