It's a big step to start looking for a therapist and I hope you find the one who can help you work through whatever it is that's troubling you. At this point, I've spent almost 7 years in various settings ranging from crisis response to community mental health to college counseling centers. While I would never dream of saying I've seen it all, I've certainly seen a lot. As a gay man, I find particular joy in working with members of the queer community including transgender individuals and those in non-monogamous relationships. I also enjoy working with college age individuals and those struggling with more intense mental health symptoms (such as major depression, anxiety, and trauma). In my work, I primarily utilize a DBT framework. Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, emphasizes an acceptance of where we are in our current journey while acknowledging that we can work to improve, learn, and do better in the future. It is, to me, an approach that is fundamentally about empathy for ourselves and for others. I also heavily utilize eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy for those who are wishing to overcome traumatic events from their past. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. If I don't end up working with you, I hope you find the help and healing that you're looking for.
