I am a clinical psychologist with advanced training in cognitive behavioral therapy with a special focus on adult ADHD (attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder). I also have successfully treated a variety of mood, anxiety, and personality disorders. ADHD treatment focuses on three interrelated areas. • Identifying your strengths and areas of interest to help with goal setting • Addressing the skills deficits often found in people with ADHD • Treating any emotional difficulties that may co-occur with your ADHD symptoms. The strengths and areas of interest help us define the goals and direction for treatment. This includes looking at how ADHD has hindered reaching those goals in the past. The ADHD related skills we would address include organization, planning, time management, and reducing distractibility. You can find more information here: https://nyctreatment.com/adult-adhd-treatment For any emotional problems we would use cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness meditation. Cognitive behavioral techniques to help you identify thought patterns and behaviors that maintain symptoms and then substitute more adaptive ones. You can read more about this on my website at https://nyctreatment.com/what-is-cbt. Cognitive behavior therapy, or CBT, has been supported by a wide body of research as an effective approach for depression, anxiety, and a variety of other issues. The focus of treatment is in the "here and now" and what you can do today. You will learn concrete tools to help you cope more effectively and make the changes you want in your life. Following my doctoral degree at Columbia University and internship at Weill-Cornell Medical Center, I completed a post-doctoral program in cognitive behavior therapy. I am currently in private practice. You can read more about my practice at www.NYCtreatment.com.
