My name is David Akva and I'm a licensed psychotherapist. I provide therapy to adults and adolescents in Baltimore, MD. I specialize in treating PTSD, anxiety, and depression and also have experience working with issues pertaining to men’s health and Jewish identity. I am passionate about working with individuals struggling with their spirituality and relationships, including difficulty relating to existence, family, friends, partners, etc. My therapeutic approach stems from somatic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Among other interventions, I primarily use mindfulness-based body-centered interventions to assist my clients in recognizing the connection between their bodies and the trauma they’ve endured. I assist them through identifying the life events that trigger their symptoms, and together establish safe coping strategies. I offer my services to individuals, families, and couples and have utilized my approach throughout many areas of mental health.
