I practiced as a nurse-midwife for 14 years during which time I became a mindfulness teacher. By teaching mindfulness to pregnant and postpartum families and through the intimate practice of midwifery, I developed a strong interest in further addressing the emotional and mental sufferings of my patients. As such, I returned to school and obtained certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My work now is to facilitate another person to access their own capacity and creativity to meet with whatever is arising in their life. In this way, I midwife clients through pregnancy and the process of becoming parents. Preconceptionally, I work with people who have mental health issues to make a plan about how they will keep well during the transition to parenting. I also address issues related to infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, stress, anxiety, depression, birth trauma, and the postpartum transition. My therapeutic approach is mindfulness-based with an Internal Family Systems framework. As a mental health nurse practitioner, I have the ability to offer integrative care which means I can prescribe medication to clients who need and want it. I have limited availability for new, therapy clients, but please email me if you are interested and I will let you know when something opens up.
