I’ve been working as a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 10 years and in the mental health field for over 15. I got my master’s degree in counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, TN. I’ve worked for community mental health companies and mental health ministries along the way. One of my favorite parts of what I do is getting to hear other people’s stories and how they came to be at the place that they are right now. All of us, including myself, have been through times when we’re hurting and we don’t know what direction to go. I often say, “The thing that is worse than hurting is hurting alone.” One of the biggest benefits of counseling is connection. I believe connection is more healing than any pill, program, or self-help book. That’s why I take being invited into my clients’ stories very seriously. It’s an honor to get to walk alongside folks as they decide to get to the hard work of making changes and healing. I’ve helped people overcome a wide range of struggles but most often those topics have included emptiness and sadness, excessive worry, coaching for career direction and transition, financial stressors, struggles in college and young adulthood, communication, marriage struggles, and divorce adjustment. Having an undergraduate degree focus in theology, I especially enjoy helping people who wrestle with the challenges between faith and life struggles as well as people with past spiritual or church hurt. In my spare time, I love spending time with my wife cheering for Georgia Bulldogs football, enjoying time outdoors, cooking, working in the yard, and spoiling my dogs. I’m a former distance runner with a bum hip and a current wannabe cyclist one day.
