Dana Gescher

Nice to meet you. I'm. Dana Gescher. I am a Pastoral Sex Addiction Professional (PSAP) and an LPC student trainee. I have a bachelor’s degree in Youth Work from Corban University. I am the owner of Higher Ground Counseling in Bend Oregon. I have been practicing since 2018. I consider it a privilege to help people experiencing negative realities realize their worth and potential. I have completed the coursework for a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Townsend Institute for Leadership and Counseling. I am pursuing licensure as an LPC. I firmly believe in the counseling relationship in that it has the potential to serve as a catalyst for personal insight, progressive change, and overall mental health wellness. Willingness and openness on behalf of the client and counselor can develop a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. I will create a safe and secure environment that encourages acceptance and understanding. We will work together to establish a therapeutic relationship while addressing your presenting concerns and eventually creating goals for improvement and change. I offer individual and couples counseling. I utilize humanistic, psychodynamic, and attachment-based therapeutic approaches informed by family systems theory, neuroscience, and trauma-informed lenses. I also have specialized training in the Carnes 30 Task Model for Sex Addiction. Lastly, I regularly integrate Dr. John Townsend's Character Model, a research-informed, psychodynamic approach to character diagnosis and treatment, in my clinical work.
