Introduction

Life's journey can be filled with difficult experiences, especially when navigating the complexities of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders. As someone who has walked the path of healing from OCD myself, I understand the unique struggles and the courage the process takes. That's why I offer a compassionate and personalized approach to therapy, rooted in evidence-based practices. Through individualized Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, a proven method for treating OCD and anxiety disorders, you'll gradually confront your fears and intrusive thoughts in a supportive and structured environment. This process of individually tailored ERP empowers you to reclaim control over your life and experience reduced anxiety, improved quality of life, and increased confidence in managing OCD and anxiety symptoms. Together, we'll develop tailored coping strategies and skills to navigate the challenges of OCD and anxiety with confidence and resilience. When you're ready to take the first step towards freedom from OCD and anxiety, I invite you to reach out. In our sessions, you'll find a safe and non-judgmental space where your experiences are met with understanding, compassion, and respect. Together, we'll embark on a journey of healing and growth, empowering you to embrace life with courage, fulfillment, and hope. ___________________________________ Therapeutic Approach I integrate different therapies into Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) to create a personalized pathway to help you regain control over your life and restore peace and fulfillment. Through ERP, we confront OCD and anxiety triggers with courage and self-compassion, while refraining from engaging in compulsive thoughts and behaviors, fostering tolerance for uncertainty and nurturing strength. We use other therapies like Somatic Therapy to process experiences in our bodies before, during, and after exposures, and we center Compassion Focussed Therapy to support our self-compassion and inner courage during the process. If you are interested in learning more about the specific therapeutic modalities I use and how they are integrated into therapy, please don't hesitate to email me at OregonCompassionTherapy@gmail.com. ___________________________________ About Me: Before becoming a therapist, I gained over 10 years of experience in providing non-clinical and pastoral counseling services. This included roles such as Director of Care Services and senior Care Team member for an international peer-support organization. Additionally, I served as the director of a teen leadership wilderness adventure program and worked as a Buddhist pastoral counselor and meditation teacher. In 2023, I was invited to Harvard University Medical School to co-lead a training for Post-Doctoral Fellows in Integrative Medicine. The focus was on exploring how specific types of meditation can potentially exacerbate anxiety and lead to experiences resembling Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This training delved into the neuroscience underlying Meditation-Related Adverse Effects (MRAEs) and discussed optimal care modalities for managing conditions such as increased anxiety. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to set up a free 20 minute phone / video consultation. I look forward to meeting with you. You are not alone. I'm here to help.
