Introduction

Sometimes there are moments in life that lead us to feeling stressed, overwhelmed and alone. Therapy can benefit your mental health by giving you access to an unbiased, experienced professional who has the knowledge to assist you with navigating some of life's most difficult challenges. Cynthia Dunn LCSW-R is an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has expertise working with people of all ages. She completed her Master's of Social Work from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2010 and she obtained her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Psychology from American University in 2006. She has worked in a variety of settings in inpatient, outpatient, and crisis intervention settings which have allowed for well rounded clinical experience. Today she uses that experience to provide excellent care to her clients. As a trained and experienced social worker, Cynthia relies on evidenced based social work practices in treatment. She is licensed and trained to provide guidance and encouragement to adolescents and their families as well as adults who are struggling with social and emotional issues, stress management, behavioral problems, trauma, bereavement and much more. She is an eclectic practitioner and offers individual and family therapy using Person-Centered Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and more. However any good therapist will always tell you that the most important part of any therapy is the bond that you as the client form with your therapist. She has a wealth of professional and personal experience that helps her to guide you through challenges together as a team. Cynthia is most proud of her ability to actively listen and identify your needs and goals. Your treatment will always be customized to your situation, abilities, limitations, and needs. She lives and works by a philosophy to treat every client the way that she would want to be treated in therapy, and guide you the way she would guide her own close friends and family. If you choose to enter therapy with Cynthia, you can be sure that she will provide you quality care and support.
