Coming to counseling for the first time can be a little intimidating. My goal as a licensed counselor is to provide a safe environment where individuals, couples, and families can grow. I do not believe that a person is either mentally ill or mentally well. Instead, I feel that continuing growth is always possible. Each of us is on a journey toward greater maturity. How quickly we grow is a direct result of the risks we take, the effort we put forth, and the help we are willing to receive. I specialize in working with adults in the context of individual, couple, and family therapy. Let's face it: traditional talk therapy is not the most helpful method for everyone. Because of this, I utilize a range of interventions to create a specialized plan for each client. Counseling should never be boring. Depending upon my client's needs and personality, I may use expressive arts, role play, games, and interactive activities in session. I learn best by doing, and usually my clients do, too. An action-based approach can help clients reach their goals and maintain success.
