I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specialized in treating adults, college students, and adolescents. I commonly work with clients who report symptoms related to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and body image, eating disorders, trauma, and PDA, a subtype of autism. I have been providing services to clients since 2016 and have experience with individuals and couples. In early 2022, I became a Certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) clinician. I found a special interest working with Cal Poly college students and older adolescents, a special population recognized as Generation Z. I have spent many focused hours learning how to apply DBT therapy techniques specific to the concerns and challenges of Gen Z In late 2022, I began educating myself on Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), what is currently considered a subtype of Autism. This highly misunderstood population is often mislabeled or misdiagnosed as ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, OCD, or Anxiety. As a therapist, my intention to further educate in this area of expertise is due to my own personal experience raising a PDA child. I wholeheartedly understand the challenges families face regarding finding support, understanding, and guidance. In early 2023, I began to incorporate my dog Happy into my therapy work. During our sessions together, Happy will provide comfort and support. Research suggests animals have been assisting mental health professionals for decades, helping people lower their blood pressure, increasing engagement, and reducing anxiety and depression.
