Introduction

How has being a mother changed you? From conception to postpartum and even loss, it is a challenging experience that many of us struggle to navigate. We often feel we're not doing it right or establishing faulty expectations based on unrealistic beliefs. Experiencing pregnancy can be a joyful time while for many it can be a completely distressing experience. We tend to experience a disconnect following birth causing us to feel bouts of sadness, worrisome thoughts, panic attacks, irritability and shame, and even suffer with intrusive thoughts. These feelings can occur from conception, during pregnancy and up to one year postpartum. It is important that you know these thoughts, concerns and feelings are normal. Experiencing motherhood is different for us all but when it starts to affects the way you view self, engage with others and navigate on daily basis, this is a great indicator to slow down, recognize your strengths and gain insight. Through therapy, this can be accomplished. My goal is help you acknowledge these concerns, process them through supportive therapy and guide you to regain a strong sense of self as you adjust through a new transition. I utilize evidence-based techniques that uncovers faulty thought patterns that affect feelings and behaviors, reduce distress through improving interpersonal relationships and social supports, and identify a solution you wish to achieve through proper treatment planning. In addition to perinatal mental health, I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions and women issues. If you're in need of extra support and guidance through this difficult time, it is important to know you can recover and begin to feel like yourself again. Please call or email me for individual therapy to begin the process.
