Introduction

Connie Hernandez is an LCSW who has been working in mental health since 2005. She works with sexual abuse survivors, both teen and adult, as well as those breaking generational trauma in forms of domestic violence and unhealthy cultural norms. She works with her clients as a team to gain self-awareness and work through the healing process. Why I became a mental health provider... Witnessing revolving cultural trauma that most of the time revolved around sexual abuse is a hard thing to endure. This same population tend to have domestic violence and other types of abuse in the home. Most endure this without a sense of support. All of this bleeds over into our day-to-day lives and relationships in so many ways and for many reasons struggle in silence. I want to aid people in healing from his/ breaking these chains. Aid in creating healthy relationships while holding boundaries and learning who and what they want from life. Allowing my clients to show up in their lives the way they choose to as apposed to just getting by the best way they know how. Working with me... I work with teens, couples, and adults. Most are of an ethnic descent. We typically meet for a consult to ensure we are a good fit. From there I will send over your intake paperwork and an extensive assessment. These will be needed prior to our first session. Our first session we will go over Policy and Procedure as well as start the intake assessment. We work as a team through the entire process and I am truly here if you need help with any of these steps. Progress for my clients shows up in many ways. We chart assessments to see the progress in symptoms, I also point out observations in their lives, thought processes, behaviors, etc. Most times my clients are stunned by the realization of the progress and so thankful. My focus is in CBT and EMDR with a strength-based perspective. So I look for trainings that focus in these areas to meet my requirements for my licensure. I also look for IFS trainings that focus on our parts. With all these modalities Trauma is always my focus. I like to use more than one modality to target and heal from past unresolved trauma to aid my clients in their healing process. I am constantly learning to make an effort to ensure your healing process in the best possible experience.
