Clemencia Cardinale is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Fresno, California. Clemencia graduated from San Francisco State University with honors, earning a Bachelor of Arts as a double major in Psychology and La Raza Studies. She continued at SFSU completing her Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Counseling earning the Distinguished Graduate Student Award and recognition by Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International for scholastic and professional excellence. Clemencia has previously worked in residential treatment in Redwood City, California with adolescents in recovery from alcohol and substance abuse. She also has worked in Reedley, California serving the rural population, providing counseling services for those affected by issues of intimate partner violence and abuse. In these capacities, Clemencia has worked with underserved and underrepresented populations, including people of color, low or limited income and undocumented individuals. Clemencia’s non-clinical experience includes working as an elementary school office manager/administrative assistant coordinating student records, providing information to parents and assisting the administrators, teachers and staff in the day-to-day operations. Clemencia’s areas of experience include working with clients regarding trauma and resiliency, alcohol/substance use and recovery, sexual abuse, domestic violence/ intimate partner violence, codependency, parenting support, anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, grief and loss, spirituality development and individuation. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, Clemencia utilizes integrative therapy techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic/ Person Centered Therapy and Trauma-Informed Care mixed with humor and lightheartedness to create an environment of affirmation and encouragement. These approaches are utilized to help clients understand their experiences, find healthy coping skills to decrease symptoms and feel hope to better manage their daily life. Clemencia is a first generation Mexican-American and can provide counseling for Spanish-speaking clients and for clients interested in a culturally sensitive therapist.
