Cielo’s clinical work is driven by a passion for helping individuals, couples and families to overcome difficult transitions, enjoy healthy relationships and live fulfilling lives. After earning her master’s degree from the University of San Diego, she worked with adults and children in psychiatric settings; supported terminally ill patients and grieving families through Hospice; and collaborated in clinical research with UCSD Family Medicine and Public Health; where she helped young adults overcome traumatic experiences and justice involvement. Cielo uses well research methods such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy; and Positive Parenting. She incorporates mindfulness and strength-based coaching techniques to improve executive skills, and to decrease trauma reactivity. Cielo enjoys coaching young individuals who have ADHD or within the Spectrum as they transition to adulthood; and has assisted countless parents of children with special needs so they are able to navigate their child’s condition while balancing family life. She understands that, for this parents/couples the amount of evidence based information out there to help their kid can be overwhelming and confusing. But more importantly, that providing a safe space for these parents to cope, recharge; and address their concerns, is key to preventing burnout and nuturing family life.
