Introduction

Courage. There is no other word for it. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help. This first action can be the first step to get your life back on track. I’d be honored to guide you on your journey. But I also want to share with you why I get it and how I am different. You see, I was once like you. I personally know what it is like to be in the shoes of anger, hurt, panic, anxiety, depression and hopelessness. As a young adult I struggled with anxiety, depression, and trauma and shame. As an adult I experienced failed relationships and finding ways to numb the hurt and disappointment of not only my childhood but also my present situation. Panic Attacks, Problems with Alcohol (9 years sober), 1 Divorce, Anxiety, Depression, Childhood Trauma. What’s my purpose? I have worked through it all. As a result I felt trapped, confused, and lost. So I did what some people do. I blew it up and started over. I left a hundred thousand dollar a year job and relocated from the Bay Area, a place I was born and raised for thirty years, and moved to Redding to pursue my passion. But there was ONE BIG PROBLEM, I DIDN’T CHANGE SO I GOT THE SAME RESULTS. I had to do something different. For the first time in my life I choose to go to therapy. In therapy I learned to heal and restore my heart. I experienced the power of having someone to help find the missing pieces, bring clarity to my choices, and have the conversations I did not want to have. This was one of the most transformative events I have experienced. As a result, I continue to be able to make choices to live a life which is rich and rewarding. How This Helps You If you choose to take this path, then here’s what working with me is like. My aim within the very first session of working together is to get you feeling better and optimistic about what’s to come. We cut through the noise and get straight to the root cause of why you’re feeling stuck, of why the anxiety, your job, your relationship seems to be overwhelming. By helping you figure out how your past is influencing your present, we can let go of self destructive behaviors, build confidence, self esteem, and communication skills. We don’t just stop there, I then show you how to actively utilize the tools you have learned in therapy to execute a new set of beliefs, feelings, and actions helping you have the confidence to choose into joy, hope, and connection. The more confident you feel, the more confidence you have, this leads to action. This cycle continues as you move up the summit to the person you desire to be. But it all starts with taking that first step. What does the actual process look like? First, we’ll have our consultation call to determine that we are the right fit to work together. I’ll ask you about why you’ve chosen to reach out at this time, what your challenges are and what your goals are for therapy. From there we’ll have our first session, in which we will create connection, understanding, and build trust. We develop an understanding of the problem keeping you stuck. We do this by not only by looking at what’s happening right now, but also possible past events that could be contributing to the problem. Most people are surprised at how deep the problem actually runs. They often dont realize how their past is influencing them in the present. It is not uncommon to hear “I thought I had worked through that!” or “I thought I had let that go.” This identification process in and of itself can be exciting as you start to see and understand the patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting. You get to look at your past in a totally new way. You start to see why you have certain thoughts and behaviors and how those lead to continued sticking points. In therapy we are going to understand your belief system so you can LIVE the life you want. The process looks like this Look inward- developing understanding of yourself Investigate your programming and figure out what the heck is going wrong Values redefine and create a system that works and is up to date Execute new behaviors and live from a current operating system Did it take work? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Yes, it was one of the best investments I made in my life. And, I continue to work on myself every day as a result of this choice I made 15 years ago. What do I use to help you make the transformation happen? My approach has been described by my clients as empathetic, gentle, motivating, challenging, and direct. My goal is to meet you where you need support. I utilize my training in Attachment Theory, Trauma, Anxiety, and Somatic Therapy to get you the support you need. I utilize approaches from Narrative Therapy, Somatic Experiencing Training, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) to get to the heart of the problems to help create lifelong change. If You Answered Yes to Any Of The Following Questions You Are Ready For Therapy… Am I looking to stop or change unhelpful behaviors? Do I have thoughts I can’t stop? Am I afraid of conflict? Do I feel like a failure? I am always anxious? Am I stuck and don’t know what to do? Would it be better if I wasn’t here? I can’t seem to have a loving and on fire relationship… I don’t know what I should do with my life… Book a call with me and get started with the process. What do I in my free time… I’ll be work hard at self discovery (reading, journaling, processing) I’ll be exercising, hiking, meditating, and playing. I’ll be spending time with my wife and 3 kids. Engaged with school. Homework. PTA. Dance. Soccer. Oh and don’t forget 4 dogs and the 1 cat! And I truly love growing into the best person I can be, it’s what I look forward to every day. Take the first step I know it can feel like you’re in a tough spot right now, I’ve been there as well. But if you’ve read over this, if you’ve resonated with wha’s here, I encourage you to reach out and start therapy. Even if not me then with another therapist, one in our office, or even outside of our practice. My goal is to see people living their best life possible. Healing your mind, body, and spirit can be the most rewarding thing you do in your life, and completely change how you show up in the world. And I’d be happy to help guide you through it. This is why our name is Guidepost Counseling For Wellness. You can book a time to chat with me below. I can’t wait to start working with you.
