I am a nationally board certified, master's level licensed mental health counselor associate (License #A15032). I graduated Summa Cum Laude from two separate master's programs at Liberty University: a master's in professional counseling in 2017 and a master's in human services counseling with a Cognate in Marriage & Family in 2015. My counseling experience includes working with men, women, couples, and adolescents struggling with grief and loss, ADHD/neurodivergence, trauma, career coaching, difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, chronic illness and chronic pain. I became a counselor because I felt called to help others. Like so many, I have struggled personally. Life threw me some big curveballs, starting from an early age, including childhood abuse, living with an alcoholic parent, divorce, and being a part of a blended family. In my adult life, I was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety, struggled with self-esteem issues, and dealt with several unhealthy dating relationships. In 2012, my husband passed away suddenly, leaving me to raise our son. I was a widow with a young child, and I needed help from someone I would not feel guilty about burdening over and over again. I needed a level of consistent support and information that family and friends couldn't provide. So I went back to counseling and stayed there for a long while. My counselor first provided me with HELP, teaching me about resources we needed and providing much needed emotional support while I parented a grieving child. Over time, I was able to process my grief and find HOPE. With hope, regular feedback, and accountability, I began the process of HEALING and rebuilding our lives. I had experienced HELP, HOPE, and HEALING earlier in my life with other counselors as well. First in undergraduate college, and then again at different times through my 20's and 30's - counselors helped me heal, learn how to have healthy relationships, regulate my emotions, develop and maintain healthy boundaries, and build my self-esteem, along with so many other things. It is my belief that good counselors help people who are willing to do the work move from desolate, painful places to a place where hope and healing are possible. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have every day to walk alongside my clients in their journey... to provide them with the HELP they need to foster the HOPE and HEALING they deserve.
