The foundation of Creating Change Counseling Center is based in the belief that all individuals have the ability to create changes in their lives. Two clinicians, Christine Kohut LCSW and Stephanie Castaneda-Arteaga, LPC, are available to help you make the changes you are looking for in your life. Christine Kohut LCSW I am the owner of Creating Change Counseling Center. I have a LCSW with over 20 years of experience. I received a BA in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Master's in Social Work from The Ohio State University. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings: private practice, community mental health, inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment. My experience includes working with individuals as young as 10 and as old as 82, as well as with couples and families, The treatment style I provide is eclectic in nature, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe that the same approach does not always work for every person, therefore it’s important to understand the clients motivation and goals in treatment to provide the best treatment modality. I am direct in my approach while at the same time providing compassion and unconditional positive regard. I believe everyone's story matters. By helping a person reflect and learn from their story, they can grow and move towards meeting the changes they are hoping to see. Stephanie Castaneda-Arteaga, LPC We go through life trying to make sense of it all; the good, the bad, and the ugly cries in between. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated with a BA in Clinical Psychology at Dominican University and graduated with a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have served many different demographics in various environments in the mental health field. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. I am also bilingual (English and Spanish). I come from a family of Mexican immigrants, and I am a first generation American and first-generation college graduate. This is important to my identity as it helped me understand my roots, my culture, my lifestyle, and all the confusion that comes with it. My approach to therapy is eclectic and diverse, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. I also strongly believe in the benefits of holistic health practices to support overall wellbeing. In the words of Heraclitus, “The only constant in life is change.” Embracing this truth, I strive to empower my clients to find the courage to understand themselves deeply and navigate the changes in their lives. Therapy is a journey of self-discovery and transformation, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
