Introduction

Christine is an expert Art Therapist, providing over 16 years of outpatient services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. She is bilingual Spanish speaking and values providing culturally sensitive and attuned services while acknowledging the diversity of families within Los Angeles. Christine strives to embody cultural humility in her practice by being a Queer Affirming/LGBTQ+ safe space and neurodivergent safe space. While working with adults, Christine focuses on helping clients find balance between how they are and how they want to be. Sessions include a variety of techniques to help clients reflect on what is in and out of their control, aiding clients with making small, positive changes, and utilizing self-compassion and self-acceptance for integrating their authentic self. Christine specializes in working with neurodivergent adults, including those on the Autistic spectrum. In her work with children and families, Christine holds the mindset that “children are not giving you a hard time, but rather, having a hard time.” She specializes in helping children enhance their emotional regulation, communication, and coping skills through individualized art and play therapy interventions. This process is concurrent with supporting parents in strengthening effective parenting skills and communication to bolster parent/child relationships and enhance healthy attachment. Christine is certified in several Evidenced Based Practices including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT, ages 0-5), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP), in addition to holding a Certificate in Play Therapy. Christine is a self-proclaimed Geek Therapist. She incorporates videogaming, pop-culture, technology, and memes into her work with children, families and adults as a way of relating to others and “meeting where they are.” She sees everything, from toys to tablets, as a tool for building healthy relationships and communication. Additionally, she is able to provide BBS clinical supervision and ATCB Art Therapy supervision to therapists seeking hours. Christine Henry completed her Master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy with emphasis in Clinical Art Therapy from Loyola Marymount University. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor in Spanish, at University of Redlands. She also has a post-graduate Certificate in Play Therapy from UC San Diego Extension.
