Christine is not your typical therapist. She is different because she integrates functional medicine with talk therapy. She’s a holistic therapist who treats both mind and body because sometimes mental health isn’t all in your head. Sometimes it’s in your gut, biochemistry, genes, diet, and lifestyle. Your mental health encompasses many elements. And so should your therapy. Christine is passionate about treating women who have struggled for years with mental health issues, like anxiety, stress, or depression, and physical symptoms, like chronic pain, adrenal fatigue, or gastrointestinal upset, and are unable to find relief or solutions that provide long-term, lasting effects. Many times these issues are a result of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), intergenerational trauma, or complex PTSD. Sometimes it’s all the above. Frustrated with the traditional medical model after years of seeing several doctors who were unable to diagnose or resolve her agonizing mental and physical symptoms, Christine applied her decades-long systems knowledge and expertise to her own health and determined the root cause of her issues very quickly. This changed Christine’s life. Since then, she’s been on a mission to help others like her. She is obsessed with the intersection of mental and physical health, and how symptoms can appear to be caused by one thing yet they are actually caused by something else entirely. For instance, anxiety, which can manifest as worry, overwhelm, vicious inner critic, and toxic shame, might be a result of the body alerting you to unresolved childhood trauma, chronic abuse, abandonment, or neglect. Christine blends functional medicine and psychotherapy to address the needs of the whole person. Science has proven that the body keeps score: it remembers pain that the mind tries to deny. We can’t ignore the body when we treat the mind, or we never truly heal. Holistic healing is at the root of what we do. Christine’s psychotherapy style is holistic as well. She integrates a variety of techniques and theories to customize the fit for each individual client. She often combines pieces of person-centered, gestalt, humanistic, existential, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), solution-focused, mindfulness-based, and narrative therapies in order to meet the specific needs of each client. Christine is a functional medicine trained licensed professional counselor (LPC-A), supervised by Gina Gabriano, LPC-S. Christine has both a masters in business administration (MBA) and a masters in professional counseling (MA). She is a double-certified executive coach and brain health coach as well as a certified trauma professional (CTP). She has completed the Applied Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) as well as the certified functional medicine practitioner (IFMCP) training program at the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), the world’s elite, gold-standard in functional medicine education. Christine is now accepting clients virtually across the state of Texas. Book a session today at dotswellness.com.
