I am passionate about using evidence-based therapy and inspired by witnessing the transformation and growth possible through both behavioral and psychodynamic modalities. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) and integrate these modalities during most of my sessions. DBT aims to increase ones ability to regulate emotions & tolerate distress, increase interpersonal effectiveness, and create/ rebuild a meaningful life. DBT is used to treat Borderline Personality Disorder, depression, anxiety, self-harming and other maladaptive behaviors. RO DBT is specifically designed to treat people with excessive self-control or “over control.” While self-control can be a good thing, exercising excessive “over-control” can impair functioning and is associated with low social connectedness, rigidity, risk aversion, loneliness, and perfectionism. RO DBT strives to help clients foster openness, flexibility, and prosocial behavior, and to help clients become less encumbered by strict and rule-governed behaviors that may negatively impact their quality of life. RO DBT is used to treat chronic depression, treatment resistant anxiety, maladaptive perfectionism, restrictive eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, and autism spectrum disorders.
