Introduction

Watersmeet is the understanding that the place where two waters meet cannot be easily separated. The human experience is difficult to simplify into a single construct. Life is full of rich fluid layers. Consider these natural intersections that have an ebb and flow: -The intersections of our past, present, and future -The spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental aspects of selves -Our relationships and boundaries with others -The processes that occur between who we are and who we are growing into Like the salmon of the Kenai Peninsula, humans, in a way, are anadromous. We often exist between vastly different environments swimming through different seasons of relationships, mental health, wellness, and being. Watersmeet Counseling assists in navigating the in-betweens, the messy boundaries, and finding your stream and direction. We leave room for uncertainty and help you clarify your thoughts, feelings, and goals. We recognize the ecosystem of life is like our Alaskan environment; it can inspire wonderment, sadness, fear, joy, anger, awe, and happiness. Our engagement in life facilitates personal growth. Healing occurs within the framework of a relationship between a Counselor and the Client. I am humbled to have the opportunity to help people envision possibilities and achieve new realities. I accept ALL clients from ALL backgrounds: people of all race, ethnicity, creed, belief, LGBTQIA+, ages, stages, and walks of life. I also employ a culturally responsive approach understanding that Indigenous knowledge vs colonized-informed theories, and racial trauma are real issues that present in the lives of clients. I have been providing Professional Counseling Services for 23 years and I believe that everyone can reach an optimum state of health and it is a journey and not just a destination. I believe that the counselor’s role is to assist in the facilitation of personal growth and wellness in each individual client. I employ an eclectic approach with a strong reliance on humanistic framework with influences from dialectical behavior therapy principles. I have formal training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Brainspotting Phase 1-4, Freeze to Thaw, BSP Adoptions, BSP with Children and Adolescents, Expansion with BSP, and taken several Masterclasses. I am Certified in Brainspotting and I am a Brainspotting Consultant. As a Korean Adopted person I am aware of dualistic cultural identities of transracially or internationally adopted. In addition as a mother of a cross-culturally adopted child, I bring a dualistic perspective to adoptive and pre-adoptive families. I hold a Professional Counseling License in Alaska (PCOP 672), and Washington (LH 61177166) a National Counselor Certification (80399) and I am Certified in Brain Spotting, I am Board Certified for Telemental Health (2600) and CAMS-Care trained. I also provide post-Master's LPC clinical supervision to individuals and groups as an Alaska approved LPC supervisor.
