Introduction

My name is Christina Oxley and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in Illinois. I have always had a genuine interest in people and the different ways we all try to make sense of ourselves and the world. I created Growing Awareness Counseling in Oct of 2023 after years of experiences with many different populations and problems, learning my strengths and my weaknesses, going through my own healing, and formulating my ideas around my approach to the therapeutic process. I take a holistic approach meaning I acknowledge the physical, psychological, relational, and environmental needs of an individual. I enjoy helping people through many different issues however, I have a particular passion and interest for working with adults diagnosed ADHD, anxiety, OCD and those going through life transitions. I also enjoy working with and supporting women who care for a child with a disability and the issues specific to them. I understand that each person is different so I draw from many different psychological approaches to meet the individual needs of those I work with. However, the number one indicator for success in therapy is the therapeutic relationship. For me the most important thing is that those I work with feel safe, cared for, and understood.  I seek to provide a comfortable space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without fear of judgment. I take a collaborative approach however, I believe that the client knows themselves the best and with some support has the ability to identify what they want and how they can get there. I offer 15 min. free consultations to understand what brings you to therapy and to see if we would be a good fit in working together. I currently do not take insurance however, I do offer sliding scale for those who need financial support. I provide Individual, couples, and group counseling to adults. For every client that chooses to work with me, I am honored to support you on your journey.
