Introduction

Hi I’m Chris-James Cognetta, the primary counselor at A Mind at Ease. I’m here to help how ever I’m able assist you in your journey with therapy. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a private practice in Dallas, TX. I’m a resident of Dallas, active in the community and the world of nonprofit organizations helping people and their causes move forward. Fun fact is that I have been an actor, model, and comedian in my earliest years and was in the last Montgomery Ward catalogue published. My theoretical orientation is existential— the goal of existential therapy is to understand the way the client sees the world and help them make choices based on new insights. People often have a limited awareness of themselves and the nature of their problems. This is called a restricted existence. My professional career outside of entertainment started in corporate America. I worked for global firms in corporate education, sales development, human capital development and more. Working in many industries including health care, hospitality, travel, theme parks, banking, IT, and Telecom to name a few. In 2007 I began my journey toward my career in Counseling. My corporate clients often needed more than what I was prepared or able to deliver as they were getting stuck in their personal lives as well as their professional lives. Gaining skills at Southern Methodist University. During my internships gaining my experience before licensure was obtained in corporate settings, a non-profit youth center, an outpatient rehabilitation facility. This helped me to work with varying issues and problems. My professional post graduate and licensure training includes Gottman Level III, Trauma, sexual dysfunction and many other topics. My background is unique and diverse as my clients are. I’m able to help them with most issues and problems and look forward to working toward their goals with them.Do you feel stuck? Are you angry or sad more often than not? Feel like you don’t belong or that the responsibilities are closing in on you? Do you wonder why you’re here? Are you not sure what the next steps are in your life? I’m here to help you realize your best mind, body and spirit. Balancing freedom and constraints in our every day lives leaves many of us with anxiety, depression, health concerns, family issues and work stress. Coping with anxiety, depression, can negatively and significantly affect your ability to live fully and openly. I see clients in all life-stages and their evolution as individuals. I work in both group and in individual settings to ensure that clients have the access to care they need.
