Introduction

Charlotte M. Freeman, Ph.D. is widely recognized as a “clinician who cares” with a heart for the clients she serves. A licensed clinical psychologist and the sole proprietor of a faith-based private practice and consulting firm, Nia Therapy Services, Dr. Freeman provides counseling, professional development trainings, and consultation services for businesses, schools/universities, social service agencies, churches and community organizations. Prior to entering private practice full-time, Dr. Freeman was the Clinical Director at the Exchange Club Family Center (now The Kindred Place), a child abuse and domestic violence prevention and intervention agency, for 10 years. While at the Exchange Club, Dr. Freeman developed three highly praised programs and served as the Director of each simultaneously. Dr. Freeman has written articles for Grace, Millennium, and Love GIRSL magazines. She is a widely sought after speaker and workshop presenter. Dr. Freeman has a spirit of excellence that she brings to all encounters, personally and professionally. Dr. Freeman has been recognized on the National Registry of Who’s Who and awarded the Tennessee Commission on Social Welfare’s Professional Advocate Award for her work with child abuse and domestic violence victims. She received Eli Lilly’s Welcome Back Award in Primary Care for her work with clinical depression. In 2011, she was honored as the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s Delta of the Year, received the Top Ladies of Distinction’s Sliver Humanitarian Award, and The Leadership Award from the River City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. She currently serves as the National Chair, Physical and Mental Health Sub-Committee for her sorority and the Board Chair of the Memphis Leadership Foundation. Her commitment to the excellence for children and youth has compelled her to serve in leadership positions, locally, regionally, and nationally, in several community and civic organizations including Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Links, Incorporated, and the Mayor’s Multicultural Coalition. She is an active member and one of the women's ministry leaders at her church, First Baptist Church Broad. She thanks God for giving her a gift and for wisdom in the use of her gift for the glory of God and the empowerment of His people. Dr. Freeman received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Dillard University in New Orleans. She obtained her master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical child and family psychology from the University of Miami. She completed her internship and fellowship training at the University of Tennessee, Memphis. Dr. Freeman’s inspiration is an expectation everyday of a miracle filled with renewed hope and sustained healing, living with joy that she gladly shares with others.
