Individual Psychotherapy Individual psychotherapy can be incredibly healing and growth promoting. Meeting the client where they are emotionally is key to the start of a healthy relationship. Dr. Kelland focuses on building a relationship of trust and love that supplies the support and connection for growth. Safety and stabilization are paramount; however, the relationship between psychologist and client provides a base for the client to work through whatever has brought them to treatment. Dr. Kelland places emphasis on attachment, connection, relationship, and love to explore the client's daily patterns that keeps them from being the best version of themselves. Even in a small community, privacy and confidentiality are an important aspect of Dr. Kelland's treatment approach. Dr. Kelland uses the appropriate theories, models, and interventions to support the client in their daily efforts to grow, progress, and achieve their treatment goals. Dr. Kelland typically uses talk therapy for a majority of his individual and couples work; however, in session music, art, drawing, breathing activities, video games, technology, and mindfulness are also utilized to help in the healing process. Dr. Kelland is a strong proponent of self-care as well as encouraging the client to become self-assertive, a better communicator, and developing self-awareness. The ultimate objective is to help the client "level up" in their health and well-being. Clients find that Dr. Kelland is a growth promoting cheerleader, encourages self-confidence and self-esteem, highlights their strengths, and emphasizes accountability to accomplish their treatment goals.
