Introduction

Psychotherapy As a licensed psychologist, I provide Telehealth services to individual adult clients residing in California and Oregon. My approach is rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS), which emphasizes that we are all born with a Self that has innate, healing capacities. Throughout life, we develop adaptive survival and protective strategies in response to the unique challenges and characteristics of our body, environment, family, culture, relationships, and life experiences. IFS involves building a compassionate relationship with these protective strategies, understanding their original intentions, and healing the wounds that once made them necessary. As we heal, we can release burdens that no longer serve us and reconnect with ourselves, others, and our environment in more meaningful, harmonious, and fulfilling ways. IFS Case Consultation I also offer IFS-informed case consultation to IFS therapists worldwide who are seeking professional development and a deeper understanding of their work with clients, as well as to those pursuing IFS therapist certification or recertification. Scheduling Availability A few scheduling options are currently available. Feel free to use the Contact option above, or email me directly at cathie@drcathiegum.net to arrange a brief complimentary consultation to discuss the support you are seeking. Psychotherapy & Case Consultation Fees Psychotherapy Sessions: $275 per 60-minute session IFS-informed Case Consultation for Professionals: $225 per 60-minute session Insurance & Reimbursement I am a private-pay provider, which allows therapy to be tailored to your needs without insurance restrictions. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement. About Me I am a female therapist (she/her) with a deep appreciation for the diverse range of human experiences that shape our lives. My practice is grounded in inclusivity, and I enjoy working with clients from various backgrounds, including undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral interns, creative professionals, psychotherapists and other healthcare professionals, coaches, teachers, and parents. Background & Interests After completing an undergraduate degree in dance performance and choreography, I trained in dance/movement therapy and yoga. These experiences deepened my interest in mind-body healing and led me to pursue a doctorate in psychology. My doctoral work focused on the impact of early stressful experiences on emotional well-being across the lifespan, integrating traditional psychodynamic theories with contemporary research. In my clinical practice, I primarily work from an Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspective, complemented by influences from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and EMDR. As a Certified IFS Therapist, Approved IFS Clinical Consultant, and EMDRIA-Certified EMDR Therapist, I remain actively engaged in ongoing professional training. Because my personal healing and growth are essential to both my well-being and my work, I actively engage in communities and experiences that foster awareness and nurture the mind, body, and spirit.
