Casie Gee

Casie is passionate about helping people heal from trauma. Through her own journey dealing with the impacts of trauma she has found hope and ways to address trauma that are actually effective. We all have our own unique journeys. It's important to find the strategies and approaches that work for you. Casie is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which has been shown to be an effective way of helping the brain process trauma. Casie uses a client-centered strengths-based approach focused on attachment. Other evidenced-based practices include Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems, increasing Somatic awareness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills. Casie has worked in the substance use treatment field for approximately 9 years and is experienced in working with individuals with complex trauma and substance use disorders. Casie began working in the substance use field at the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services in 2014 advocating for individuals in policy at a state level and managing grants. Casie completed internships at DHEC and Courage Center before graduating from the University of South Carolina with a masters degree in social work. Casie then began working at LRADAC (Lexington Richland Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission) in 2019 working directly with individuals with substance use disorders and other co-occurring challenges. Casie is LGBTQ+ affirming and experienced with working with religious trauma related to LGBTQ+ issues. Casie lives with her wife and three dogs in Lexington, SC. When not working she enjoys spending time on the lake with family, writing music, tending to several fresh/salt water aquariums and riding motorcycles.
