Hi, I’m Carrie As a Trauma Informed Relationship Therapist, I help people — and couples — who have trouble in their present relationships as a result of something they experienced in the past. My goal is to help you get unstuck and move forward in the ways that you dream. “Trauma Informed Relationship Therapist” may be my title, but I want to be known as Carrie. I’m a person first, and embracing our humanity and having self-compassion will be an important part of our therapy process. (If this sounds hard for you, you’re probably in the right place) The way you feel will change when we relate all of the above through the lens of emotion. This is where it’s important to recognize our humanness together. My credentials I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Hawaii, Virginia, Colorado, and Washington. This allows me to see clients in all of these states virtually. I hold residence in Hawaii and would love to see you in my office there. I’ve practiced therapy since 2011 and have loved almost every minute of it. I am energized by the work I do and inspired to see individuals and couples who have felt plagued by overwhelming stress, anxiety, loneliness, and conflict transform their lives and relationships into joyful and intimate experiences. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Corporate Communications from Ithaca College and a Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Argosy University in Honolulu. I loved my time at Argosy so much that I later taught there as an Adjunct Faculty Member, focusing on theories of family therapy. This has been a huge help in understanding the patterns that exist in relationships and families. Without awareness of the unconscious patterns we fall into in our lives, it’s likely we will repeat the same mistakes again and again and sabotage what we want for ourselves. This can be painful and overwhelming, sapping our motivation and maybe even keeping us consumed in unhealthy coping. Let’s be pattern breakers together. You bring you, and I’ll bring the tools. In addition to my academic education, I am constantly seeking knowledge to develop myself and expand what I can do for you. I am trained in and practice EMDR and Gottman Method Couples Counseling. EMDR is an important tool in breaking down trauma and intrusive thoughts. The Gottman Method offers a blueprint for building healthy relationships. I hope you’ll come and connect and share your story with me. Diversity is my favorite part of it all. It is exciting to meet so many different people and still see how similar we all are in the human experience of emotion.
