How do you find safety in an uncertain world? Therapy can offer a pause to pay attention on purpose to your nervous system and raise awareness of the connection between your heart and your nervous system. Our nervous system does not lie, but our perceptions & assumptions can cause us to feel stuck, helpless, hopeless, misunderstood, traumatized & exhausted. That is probably why you are seeking therapy. Healing is about hosting space for each of us to re-learn & understand our nervous system using polyvagal science & research. I have over 20-yrs experience teaching kids creative movement, yoga, and mindfulness. I earned a double Masters in Clinical Psychology and Public Administration from the University of San Francisco. I am on the faculty of the Polyvagal Equine Institute (PVEI), having spent the last 5 years training in equine therapy and working with complex trauma clinicians. Traditional talk therapy can offer so much and when you add a walk in nature or better yet include animals you increase your chances of finding safety and reconnection. What is left is less small talk and a chance to asses, review or change attitudes, emotions, physiological states and behaviors. With your consent, we can acknowledge and be curious together about what has happened to you in your past, where it is landing in your nervous system in the present and find the patterns that offer help for a more mindful, purposeful and authentic self in your future.
