Introduction

Carolina "Caro" Cormack Orellana, ACSW (she/her) has a Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University and a Master of Social Work with a specialization in mental health from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She was born and raised in Bellflower, California, a southeast suburb of Los Angeles county. Caro has 4 years of experience in working with teens 13+, young, and older adults using a mix of modalities depending on the client’s needs and goals. These approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solution-Focused therapy, and somatic techniques. She has the most experience treating depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and substance use disorders. Caro specializes in working with the LGBTQ+ community, particularly children of immigrants who want to integrate and process their intersecting identities in order to live a more authentic life. As a queer daughter of Chilean and Argentinian immigrants who is continuously going through the identity integration process herself, she uses her clinical knowledge and lived experiences to create a safe, gentle, and welcoming space to explore these issues. Her therapeutic work is rooted in the values of authenticity, accessibility, and harm reduction.
