Introduction

I am a Licensed Psychologist in the Houston Heights area specializing in anxiety and trauma-related disorders. Examples of anxiety and trauma-related problems include excessive and uncontrollable worry, panic attacks, intrusive and distressing thoughts and memories, and fear and avoidance of specific situations (e.g., social interactions, crowded places). These issues commonly interfere with work, relationships, self-confidence, and the ability to do things you need or want to do. I additionally work with individuals on issues such as depression, relationship distress, and perfectionism. I primarily utilize cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal interventions, which means I assist people in changing patterns of thinking, behaving, and interacting in order to change how they are feeling. This is different than just lending a listening ear or teaching ways to reduce anxiety in the moment; I actively collaborate with people to understand what keeps their anxiety and emotional distress going and to disrupt the cycle, so they can live life according to what matters to them and not according to their anxiety. For the past eight years, I have worked as a staff psychologist and assistant professor at an academic medical center, providing specialized anxiety and trauma treatment, engaging in clinical research, teaching and supervising psychologists in training, and providing training and consultation to healthcare professionals. I am excited to now offer evidence-based treatment in a private practice setting to the Houston community. The decision to entrust another person to help you with deeply personal issues is often a difficult one. For some people, going to a therapist can feel like a last resort. It is common for people to have reservations about whether talking to a therapist can actually help them, especially if they have not improved after working with another therapist in the past. For these reasons, I am humbled by and grateful for the opportunity to work with new clients. I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about your goals and how therapy can help. Please contact me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
