Caitlin Byars (She/Her) is currently completing her clinical internship at Timber Creek Counseling. She is working toward her Master's in Social Work from Western Michigan University, specializing in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trauma across the lifespan. Caitlin has previous experience in direct support caregiving, neuropsychology, and community mental health, with current experience in community health. She facilitated group therapy for children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance (SED), ages 8-12, focusing on coping skill development, anger management, and psychoeducation on emotional regulation. In her previous internship at HealthWest community mental health, she conducted screenings, crisis intervention services, and assessments to determine level of care and service planning. Previously she worked in neuropsychology, assisting with diagnoses of several cognitive disorders such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, Alzheimer's, and traumatic brain injury. Caitlin is currently undergoing training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a focus on populations that have experienced trauma. She is passionate about providing care in a trauma informed way to individuals that have experienced significant crisis in their lives. Caitlin uses a client-centered approach with a firm understanding that you are the expert of your own experience. She believes in the importance of authenticity and meeting clients where they are at, creating an open, warm, comfortable, and affirming therapeutic environment. Her focus is on trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and LGBTQIA+ related concerns and serves children, teen, young adult, and adult populations.
