Introduction

I received my Bachelor’s degree from Rockford College in psychology with a minor in human development. I completed my Master of Arts degree with a concentration in addiction treatment from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and I am proud to be a National Certified Counselor. My undergraduate experience includes working with adolescents in residential treatment with mental health as well as substance abuse concerns. I have also worked with juvenile male offenders on probation. My master’s level graduate internship was at an outpatient treatment center with a primary focus on the treatment of adolescents with substance abuse concerns. Prior to working at Oakheart, Center for Counseling, I provided therapeutic services to the adolescent, young adult, and adult populations with a focus on anxiety, depression, phase of life and relational issues, as well as Substance Abuse Disorders. I currently have a strong interest in working with Substance Use Disorders, Perinatal and Postpartum Anxiety and Depression, Trauma, and working with first responders. I would describe my therapeutic approach as Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) while implementing mindfulness and humor into my practice. Doing so has allowed me to create a safe-space for my clients, to not only feel heard, but accepted without judgement.
