Introduction

Cappy Counseling and Wellness was founded by Brenda Cappy Gruhn in 2020. Brenda is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a certified Pennsylvania Professional School Counselor. She has over twenty years of counseling experience in schools, agencies and private practices. Brenda earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Point Park University and holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Brenda’s approach to counseling and wellness begins with providing an empathetic, supportive, and compassionate environment for her clients. With therapeutic foundations based in client-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused therapies, she incorporates mindfulness and behavioral modification strategies and techniques into her therapy practice. Brenda’s areas of expertise include helping adolescents, teens, and adults struggling with anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, stress management, self-esteem, depression, emotional regulation, and relationship problems. Brenda is also available for meditation and mindfulness sessions, LPC supervision (for PA masters level counselors), case consultation, and individualized wellness workshops for your school or agency!
