If you've found this site, you're more than likely thinking about whether now is the right time for therapy, which is great! I always say now is the best time. Therapy is one of the best investments you can make in yourself. How can I help? It's my job to listen as you share your story. We'll then collaborate to determine what type of therapeutic approach is best for you and work on your goals for our time together. Sometimes that means looking at recurring thought patterns, relationships, processing past trauma, or learning coping skills. Consider joining us for DBT group on Tuesday evenings! I've been in the field for 10 years, working with adults from all walks of life. I spent seven years working for a large non-profit mental health provider, where I was a therapist in both mental health and substance use, served as a clinical supervisor and assistant program director, and, eventually, a program director. Prior to that I worked in the non-profit housing world before moving on to work for the city of Buffalo. The helping professions just seemed to be the right fit. My desire to be a therapist has been shaped by life experience, experiences I had in therapy, and a desire to help people in the LGBT community. Also, my personal journey into my own mindfulness practice, including meditation and yoga, informs how I live my life, and also my work with clients. For people looking for specific therapy modalities, I tend to take a Person-Centered approach in my work, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and am certified in Progressive Counting, which is an evidence-based trauma therapy. In addition to therapy, I also provide clinical supervsion to existing clinicians and consultation services to people looking to start their own practices. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, going to the movies, kickball, yoga, biking, traveling, and spending time with my dog, a shepherd mix named Murphy.
