Introduction

Welcome! I am a client-centered, psychodynamic therapist trained at Columbia University in New York. My work is informed by spirituality, queer theory, and intersectionality (which means that we seek to understand what’s inside of you, what’s outside of you, and how they overlap and intertwine). Our identities influence the ways in which we show up in the world and with each other. The identities that I bring into the therapy room are that of a detribalized, white-bodied, Xicana woman. There are parts of me that belong to both the colonized and colonizers. I am proudly queer. I acknowledge my privilege as a white-passing, able-bodied, straight-sized, femme person, who is highly educated in Eurocentric educational traditions. I acknowledge that differences inevitably exist between us, and I embrace the journey of learning from you and your stories. I advocate for Land Back and reparations. Healing must start at the root. My hope is that we can welcome new understandings of ourselves with familiarity and love. I may invite clients to come into a deeper relationship with themselves somatically; by tuning into body and spirit awareness. I might invite you - with choice and consent - into mindfulness, visualization, imagination, or movement. Let’s find out where the shame is hiding and bring it out of the shadows. Let’s hold its hand, and ask what we can learn. Let’s bring our ancestors into the room, and retrieve what is nurturing, healing, and necessary for our journeys. Let's be queer. Let's be weird. Let's be fully in our true selves, and in connection with each other. Let us be in a space of possibility.
