Hello, I'm Beth Bates, and I'm a licensed professional counselor in Montrose, Colorado. Thank you for viewing my profile. The fact that you're here reading this demonstrates your care of self and your determination to heal and improve your life. That takes courage! It has been my lifelong passion to offer people the listening ear, support, challenge, and insights that I was blessed with from just the right therapist at just the right time through my adult life. I offer a nonjudgmental space for clients to process pain, grief, life passages and more, and to explore possibilities and solutions to reach their therapeutic goals. Clientele: Individual, couples/family, and group therapy for adults regardless of creed, beliefs/unbelief, gender identity, or sexual orientation Areas of clinical focus: Depression, self-worth, trauma, grief, ambiguous loss, relationship issues, life transitions, religious trauma, existential crises, identity, “that which is common to the human experience” (I Cor. 10:13) Clinical approach: In-person, face-to-face therapy using a combination of solution-focused brief therapy, strength-based therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and person-centered therapy—according to treatment goals and the person's styles and needs Faith in practice: I am a Christian whose practice is evidenced-based and faith-informed. Unfortunately, that can be a red flag for those who have been wounded in the name of God. Incorporating faith in the therapeutic process is absolutely optional. I lead with grace. I guarantee a nonjudgmental approach. Come as you are. You are safe with me. Personal: I have two children in their twenties and am happily married. I love the outdoors and nature, and I hike as much as possible. Hummingbirds and quail are among my favorite creatures (after my two kitties). I am grateful to be alive! Micah 6:8
